Over the past 10 years, Garage has developed from an exhibition space to a valued artistic institution. Today, Garage is not only a place for exhibitions, but also a grant program for artists, courses and a master’s program at the HSE, its own publishing house and library, cinema and lecture programs. Its activities significantly affect the cultural education in Eurasia.
Garage Museum of Contemporary Art
This spring Garage has established its Endowment Fund so that any person or company could support the Museum. The income is accumulated by the fund and then being invested. Investment income received will be used to finance Museum projects or be reinvested. Those funds which are part of the endowment will remain there and be used to generate income. It is planned that the fund will help the Museum to generate capital for their work for decades to come.
The Leta team considers Garage to be one of the most important cultural phenomena. It’s not just a Museum of Contemporary Art – it’s one of the most modern museums in the world in its core. All of us constantly visit the exhibitions, schedule mettings in Garage Cafe and consider the building in Gorky Park to be our “place of power”. When we discovered that the Museum creates an endowment for its own sustainable development, the decision was made literally within 24 hours. Paperwork took two more weeks – and now, under the agreement with the Museum, until 2024 Leta will monthly transfer a portion of the funds from our income to the Garage Museum’s Endowment Fund.
We are sincerely proud that we have the opportunity to make our contribution to the development of contemporary and modern art. The “Garage” team is a group of people who are passionate about their work and create projects of amazing power and meaning. We are sure that there are still thousands of victories and achievements ahead ;-)
Amber is one of the oldest gemstones people know since paleolithic era. There have been many theories regarding amber origin. Roman author Pliny the Elder (1st century AD) was the first scientist to prove that amber is a fossilized tree resin. He paid attention to the fact that when burning amber emits smoke and smells with resin. Today organic origin of amber is generally recognized.
Our reimagined Gift Card is the result of collaboration with talented artists from around the world. On the front side of the card you will find some regular information about the value of the card and an activation code, whereas the back side has a work of art, created by an artist especially for this card issue. What makes this card valuable is that each issue is limited of only 100, so it’s definitely worth saving even after spending.
A talented photographer Lucy Zharikova went to Yantarny this summer to create an atmospheric shoot on the Baltic Coast for Ambery. Inspired by the cold sea, fresh wind and natural textures, such as wood and smoky pebbles, Lucy subtly conveyed everything that we appreciate so much in our jewelry – simple and adjusted forms and natural beauty of amber.
Last Friday we hosted a presentation of our current collection Modernism and also an opening of our first showroom at Roden Manor. It felt cozy and friendly that evening. We talked about the history of Leta and the creation of our collection, also received warm feedback from our beloved guests and shared our plans. Now you can visit our showroom at Kitay-Gorod and try on all your favorite items.
